The benefits of flexible childcare study

Much like childcare educators encourage their children to learn at their own pace, flexible childcare study gives you that very same opportunity!

The benefits of flexible childcare study are plentiful. Are you interested in enrolling in a childcare course, but unsure whether your current lifestyle will accommodate study? Fear not: flexible childcare study is what you need! We cover the major benefits below.

Earn while you learn!

Flexible childcare study gives you the chance to hold onto your current job while still making progress in the next step of your career.

That’s right: you can study towards your preferred childcare qualification while still holding your existing part or full time job.

Time management is an essential skill to develop here, especially if you’d like to keep working full time while you study.

Part-time study becomes so valuable here when you realise you can gradually finish up your current career while simultaneously studying for your new career in childcare!

School leavers can benefit from flexible childcare study options

Young adults who have just finished school seem to think that if they’re not sure what they want to do, that they’re in the vast minority. That couldn’t be further from the truth!

Don’t stress if you’ve just finished Year 12 and you’re not entirely sure what you want to do with your life – you’re certainly not the only one, and there is no rush to decide your future. However, for the last few months you have had a keen interest in childcare.

You mightn’t be compelled to dive right into full-time study as soon as school is over, so with flexible part-time options available, studying childcare at Southern Solutions can be a more gradual and measured process.

After all that hard work during your senior years of school, you mightn’t be quite prepared to dive right back into full-time study. You’re still young, so engaging in part-time childcare study allows you to maintain extracurricular activities, too.

(Through placement, too, you’ll get a real feel for what working in the childcare industry will be like!)

Are you working towards your Diploma?

That’s great!

Did you know that once you complete your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and find employment, you can remain employed even while you’re working towards your Diploma?

That means you can remain actively involved in your current place of employment even while you’re taking the next exciting step – at your own pace – in your childcare career.

Flexible childcare study

Are you living in an urban or rural area?

For the last several years, online studying – throughout all fields – has cemented itself as one of the most popular forms of study.

Thanks to technology, we no longer need to be present in a physical classroom for educators and students to communicate and learn.

Through flexible online training, you can fit in your studies around the rest of your life; it’s the convenience of studying childcare at your own pace, through online training, that makes Southern Solutions the number one choice for childcare courses throughout Sydney and NSW.

Self-paced learning

Self-paced learning offers adults a range of options to work towards their education at their own pace. They can take their time with more challenging aspects of the course, and fly through segments that come more naturally to them.

Self-paced learning became more commonplace when the internet took centre stage and on-campus study moved online, too.

Challenges of self-paced learning

Learning at your own pace does, however, present some challenges that you will likely face and have to manage.

Time management

You know if you’re not a natural when it comes to managing time. If you are struggling to allocate adequate time to your studies while juggling other work and life, don’t hesitate to seek help!

Through Southern Solutions’ child care courses, you’re only a phone call, email, or Skype chat away from one-to-one assistance.

Routine

You want to ensure that you not only create a routine, but one that is realistic and that you will be able to effectively follow.

For example:

If you work 25 hours a week, determine whether you can effectively follow a pre-determined study routine like two hours every weekday except for Tuesday and Friday, and two hours per day on the weekend.

If you work full-time, you might find it harder or more unrealistic to dedicate more than one hour per day to study. Experiment, but once you find your routine, work hard to stick to it.

Organisation

Organisation is key!

Try to dedicate a certain space in your home for study only; do not associate it with anything else. Make sure your study area is free from clutter and comfortable. Make it somewhere you enjoy working; not a space you dread! Try to make it in an area where you will not be distracted by other family members or the television.
