Short Childcare Courses Sydney
Southern Solutions provides a number of short childcare courses and workshops designed to keep your childcare qualifications up-to-date. Some of these courses are mandatory while others can be completed to fulfil personal development goals. Explore our short workshops below.
Time Management Workshop
When we talk about time management, we are also referring to priority management. These ultimately go hand-in-hand, and a time management course can help you prioritise tasks in order from most to least urgent, allowing you to carry them out in the most effective and productive way.
Poor time management skills can often lead to feelings of stress and anxiety in the workplace. Effective work – no matter your industry – is underpinned by effective time management skills.
Southern Solutions’ time management course will equip you with the knowledge to:
- Analyse current workloads
- Predict future workloads
- Order and prioritise tasks
- Tackle procrastination
- Create effective time management systems

Upon completion of your first aid course, you will have developed the following skills:
- Understanding of basic human anatomy
- Competency in performing effective CPR
- Examination of a conscious or unconscious person
- Identify a range of common illnesses
- Manage common injuries
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Workshop
The CPR component of the First Aid course must be updated annually in order for your entire First Aid certification to remain current. We can provide both CPR refresher courses annually and First Aid refreshers every three years.
Children at Risk Workshop
The Children at Risk short course (CHCPRT001) teaches how to identify and respond to children and young people at risk of harm.
Learning outcomes of this course include developing the skills to identify and manage sensitive issues such as abuse, neglect and bullying. Abuse or neglect is not always physical. It can also be sexual, emotional, or psychological.
The Children at Risk course is nationally recognised. While it is not compulsory in the childcare industry, centre owners or managers may request their staff complete this course.
Safety in the Workplace Workshop
Safety in the workplace is everyone’s responsibility. From managers and supervisors to employees and contractors, we all do our part to ensure our working environment – no matter our trade or profession – is safe and secure.
Occupational health and safety (OH&S) is a key component of safety in the workplace.
Parent Communication and Management Workshop
When the time comes that you need to communicate with a parent or family about learning or behavioral problems, the family’s reaction is far more likely to be supportive if you’ve gained the skills to be able explain effectively the issues. Effective communication will set you up to have much more objective conversations with families about their individual child.
